handbag companies raising its own crocodile to meet demand

The crisis is not for everyone. Some luxury brands sees the waiting list of luxury brand handbags in crocodile skin. With over 3,000 crocodile bags manufactured annually, it is no longer sufficient to meet current demand. “For some skins, the waiting list is about three years in Europe to seven years in Japan where the customer is requesting.” Said CEO Patrick Thomas House Luxury at the Reuters Summit.

To overcome a shortage, a luxury brand will recruit between 50 and 100 skilled workers in the leather work in France (noting that currently there are 200 – Sacred progression).

But the company does nothing but increases its production capacity, we must also think of the raw material itself, and it is interesting.
Since it takes a considerable number of skins for one crocodile bag – between 3 and 4 of crocodile skins – the company decided to embark on breeding of crocodiles in Australia!
Raising crocodiles is expensive: animals whose mortality rate is high before maturity, should be separated from each other to avoid bites harmful to their health and quality of their skin.

I found all this mythical have to raise its own crocodile, which is a job well apart and complex to meet the demand of fashionista! It’s like if we had to raise his sheep to knit a sweater.

In any case, this confirms to me that this brand is one of the last true large luxury brands. Not Made in China, that the hand made in France by skilled artisans and attention to detail and quality that are unfortunately often sacrificed to the margin.
